Empowering Harm Reduction: Recap of Murdo E. Bijl’s Contribution at the INTERNATIONAL TESTING WEEK 2023
On November 20, 2023, Murdo E. Bijl, the Southeast Asia Harm Reduction Association’s (AHRA) Secretariat Coordinator, made a significant contribution at the INTERNATIONAL TESTING WEEK 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This event, hosted by the Malaysian AIDS Council in partnership with Coalition PLUS, also marked the official launch of The South Asian, Southeast Asian (Sasea) Platform.
The focus of the event centered on the pivotal role of testing in ending HIV and viral hepatitis. Representing the members of the Southeast Asia Harm Reduction Association, Murdo Bijl shared valuable insights and expertise during the virtual session. He emphasized the urgent need to address the prevailing drugs and health crisis, highlighting the importance of prioritizing the voices of harm reduction practitioners and people who use drugs in national and donor consultation processes.
